Every catalog entry must acknowledge at least one limitation or risk.
macOS + zsh only — relies on AppleScript/System Events to place windows and tabs.
Needs Accessibility/Automation permissions granted to the terminal, or tab placement fails silently.
Tab sets are defined in your shell config, so non-technical users must edit dotfiles to add workspaces.
What it does
Defines named “workspaces” — sets of browser tabs laid out across multiple
monitors — that you open with a single command. It’s the personal pm workspace
launcher, generalized so anyone can declare their own tab sets.
Install & run
git clone https://github.com/kyle-lesinger/tab-workflows# source the script from your ~/.zshrc, then:tabflow <workspace-name>
See the repo README for defining workspaces and granting the required macOS
Automation permissions.
When to reach for it
Spinning up the same multi-monitor browser layout at the start of every workday.
Context-switching between projects, each with its own set of tabs/dashboards.
🛠 Developer’s suggestion
Make it yours: source it in your ~/.zshrc and define your own named workspaces pointing at your own dashboards and links, then launch any set from the terminal. It's built to be aliased and personalized.
alias work='tabflow research' # define your own named tab sets in ~/.zshrc
